This Week’s High Five

I entice everyone to watch “Fantasy Hoops” at Basketball TV, especially for those guys who are involved in Yahoo Fantasy NBA. And only if Rick Kamla is hosting the show. The dude is just so full of spirit and so knowledgeable. He makes suggestions with conviction, and ridicules anyone who asks stupid questions.

For my high five this week, for eight-category leagues, I pick Yao Ming at center, Jermaine O’Neal at power forward (since he is also eligible at this position), Shawn Marion at small forward, Kobe Bryant at shooting guard and Steve Nash at point guard.

Without T-mac who’s out with a back injury, Yao has been carrying the numbers for Houston. He’s been producing double-doubles. He doesn’t only score at 20’s, but even over 30’s. Expect the Rockets to get the ball to Yao in each and every possession.

Jermaine is a monster lately. He has been scoring more than 20, and grabbing more than 15 caroms a game. He is an awesome pick.

The Matrix has been ranked number one for the past four years. Why? Because he helps in all but one category. He is shooting more than 55% from the field, hits 80% from the foul line, has at least 1.5 threes a game, scores 18 or more a night, grabs 10-plus rebounds, averages two steals and a block, and turns the ball over 1.1 times an outing. His only weakness is his assist. Beat that! He is all-around Marion. And for those heavy minutes and he just averages 1.1 TO. Wow!

Kobe has been sensational, scoring 45 points the last Sunday against Washington. Without his partner Lamar Odom, he is been averaging 49.5 points for the last two games at above 50% clip. He gets to the line a lot and makes 88% of them.

And Nash, the two-time MVP is leading his Suns to a current 14-game winning streak. Hope the Raptors will bring their A-game tonight. There’s no beating the Suns with Nash dishing an NBA-leading 11 dimes per night. He scores at a high 56% FG clip, and a higher 90% from the free-throw line, third best in the NBA currently. He is having his best scoring season in his career, around 19 a game, and he can help you in steals as well. (pic courtesy of yahoonba.com)
