San Miguel Beer acquired versatile wing man Lordie Tugade and reserve center Omanzie Rodriguez from the Red Bull Barakos in exchange for the Beermen’s first and second round draft picks in the 2009 PBA Draft plus reserve guard Paolo Hubalde.

After giving up Tugade, Red Bull dealt its first round draft rights for 2008 and Hubalde to the Ginebra Gin Kings in exchange for All-Star center Rommel Adducul, who was then immediately shipped to the Beermen for Migs Noble, sophomore Michael Kong and SMB’s 2008 second round draft rights.

The acquisition of Adducul and Tugade should provide depth to the Beermen – who have been playing without key players Brandon Lee Cablay and Danny Ildefonso – and hopefully swing their fortunes around in the 2006-07 Talk N Text PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) Philippine Cup, who had a 0-3 start before the deal.

True enough, they have won two in a row, against Alaska and the highly-powered Ginebra Gin Kings. “The Dynamite” Danny Seigle scored 28 points and grabbed a career high 17 rebounds in an overtime victory against the Gin Kings on Sunday night.

They are now deep in every position with prized rookie L.A. Tenorio and Olsen Racela manning the point guard; Cablay, Chris Calaguio, Kiko Adriano and All-Star Dondon Hontiveros at shooting guard; Wesley Gonzales, Tugade and Seigle at small forward; Ildefonso and Rodriguez at power forward; and Adducul and hulking Dorian Pena at center.
